When you call CATCO for help after a water loss, our account manager will ask you questions that will help determine how to approach the restoration of your home or business.
  • He or she will dispatch our trained crews to arrive within a couple hours of your call.
  • Once they arrive, the crew leader will inspect the damage, while CATCO technicians immediately start pumping and extracting any standing water quickly.
  • The crew will move/remove any furniture and debris and carefully remove baseboards and drill holes as needed to effectively dry the structure.  (If required by the level of contamination, they’ll remove carpet, pad and building materials as well.
  • They will clean structure and personal items using plant-based sanitizers that will help prevent mold growth in the affected area.
  • They check moisture and temperature levels and set up professional-quality air movers and dehumidifiers to appropriately control the drying process.
  • Once the equipment is set, you’ll need to leave it running over the course of several days.
  • CATCO’s dispatch office will send a technician back during that time to monitor the process until the affected area is dry.
  • Once dry, our reconstruction crews can assist you with repairs as needed to return your home or business to a pre-loss condition.

Every loss is different, so the cost depends upon the type of water (clean water vs. sewage), the extent of the damage, the amount of moisture and time of exposure.  The more water, the dirtier, the more widespread and the longer the area’s been wet, the more it will cost.  It also depends upon the time of day, as CATCO’s crews are on stand-by to provide emergency services after normal work hours.  The cost is also reflected in the types of materials involved if reconstruction is required.  Suffice it to say, a very minimal clean-water loss in a hard-surfaced area might be charged less than $1,000, but an extensive problem with sewage on carpeted, finished areas can easily reach $5,000 and much more if extensive contamination is found and reconstruction is needed.

The average water loss takes three to five days with drying equipment running full-time.  But several factors--like the amount of moisture, the length of time the area was wet, and the types of materials involved--play a role.  CATCO’s technicians follow the IICRC standards for drying to accurately record moisture and temperature levels and use the proper equipment to most efficiently dry the affected area.

Your insurance policy will give you specifics about your coverage.  But note that most insurance companies require you to purchase an extra rider to cover sewer back-ups or flooding.  If the water damage is from a broken pipe or appliance, it’s more likely covered.  Either way, always check with your agent to be certain.  Whether you have insurance coverage or not, CATCO works for you, and we can invoice you for work performed.

If your unfinished basement has water, you could extract it, clean it, and set up drying equipment yourself if you don’t mind hard work.  But we recommend you call CATCO if you have water damage to any finished areas of your property.  Water can intrude into wall voids and other spaces, and you setting up fans to dry out the area could actually cause secondary damage by creating a MORE humid environment.  Our certified technicians have the training and professional equipment to effectively dry the space, thus avoid future problems with delamination of materials, malodors and mold growth.
